Product Overview
The Shure MXA920W-S is a square ceiling array microphone built for AV conferencing in conference rooms, boardrooms, and hybrid meeting spaces. Its Automatic Coverage technology captures talkers across a defined area without aiming pickup lobes, while onboard IntelliMix DSP delivers a clean, conference-ready mix over Dante audio. The white, square form factor drops into standard ceiling-tile grids and complements modern interior design. As a Microsoft Teams certified ceiling array microphone, the MXA920W-S suits enterprise AV standardization and large-scale room deployments.
Product Description
The MXA920W-S ceiling array microphone uses next-generation array architecture to deliver enhanced directional pickup and natural speech in commercial meeting spaces. Automatic Coverage technology captures talkers in up to eight adjustable coverage areas you define, covering up to a 30 x 30 ft (9 x 9 m) space without the need to aim lobes, which speeds installation and commissioning for AV integrators. Virtual Acoustic Boundary keeps voices or noise outside the defined areas out of the mix, improving intelligibility in glass-walled or multi-purpose rooms. For voice lift and sound reinforcement, Automatic Coverage can be turned off in favor of Steerable Coverage technology, aiming up to eight pickup lobes with individual outputs to feed separate loudspeaker zones. Onboard IntelliMix DSP applies automatic mixing, acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, and automatic gain control, reducing the external processing required for a hybrid meeting deployment. Audio, PoE power, and control travel over a single Cat5e or higher shielded cable using Dante/AES67 networking, simplifying cabling for large installations. The microphone is certified for Microsoft Teams and compatible with Zoom, Google Meet, Cisco, and other collaboration platforms.
Key Features
- Automatic Coverage Technology — Captures talkers in up to eight adjustable coverage areas across up to a 30 x 30 ft space without aiming pickup lobes, accelerating setup for integrators.
- Virtual Acoustic Boundary — Excludes voices and noise originating outside the defined coverage areas, improving isolation in open or multi-purpose rooms.
- Steerable Coverage for Voice Lift — Aims up to eight pickup lobes with individual audio outputs to feed separate loudspeaker zones for sound reinforcement applications.
- Onboard IntelliMix DSP — Integrated automatic mixing, acoustic echo cancellation, noise reduction, and automatic gain control produce a conference-ready mix without separate processing hardware.
- Dante/AES67 over a Single Cable — Audio, PoE power, and control signals run over one Cat5e or higher shielded cable, reducing installation labor and rack-mount infrastructure.
- Square Form Factor, White Finish — The 24-inch square housing aligns with standard ceiling-tile grids and is paintable to match interior design.
- Enterprise Security — Supports 802.1x, secure boot and storage, and AES encryption for control and audio data to meet IT and facilities requirements.
- Configurable LED Status Bar — Adjustable colors and brightness communicate mute and system status to room occupants.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size room does one MXA920 cover?
Automatic Coverage captures up to a 30 x 30 ft (9 x 9 m) area from a single microphone. For larger spaces, multiple MXA920 units can be deployed and aligned with the Optimize Tracking feature in Shure Designer software.
How does it connect and get power?
The MXA920W-S uses a single Cat5e or higher shielded cable for Dante/AES67 audio, control, and PoE power, which simplifies cabling and rack-mount infrastructure in commercial installations.
Does it need an external DSP?
No external DSP is required for echo cancellation. Onboard IntelliMix DSP handles automatic mixing, AEC, noise reduction, and AGC. Teams-certified bundles are also available with the ANIUSB-MATRIX, P300-IMX, or IntelliMix Room.
Which collaboration platforms are supported?
It is certified for Microsoft Teams and compatible with Zoom, Google Meet, Cisco, and other platforms, making it suitable for standardized enterprise AV conferencing.
How is it mounted?
The square housing fits standard ceiling-tile grids and supports ceiling mount, pole mount, or wire rope suspension to match the architecture of the room.
